Frequently asked questions

To help the specialist assess your child fully, it’s helpful to bring:

  • a list of your child’s current medications, including creams and antihistamines

  • any previous dermatology results

  • photos of the skin condition, if it fluctuates or only appears at certain times

  • details of possible triggers (foods, products, animals, environmental exposures)

  • a record of past reactions, flare patterns, or known allergies

  • a favourite toy, book, or snack to help your child feel comfortable

If your child uses specific creams or skincare products, bringing them can also be useful.

Our specialists are experienced in working with children and will ensure the appointment is child‑friendly.

A typical consultation includes:

  • a conversation about symptoms, triggers, and any family history

  • a gentle examination of the affected skin areas

  • discussion about your child’s skincare routine and any previous treatments

  • reviewing any photos or prior test results

  • planning further tests if needed (e.g. skin prick tests, patch tests, blood tests)

  • creating an individualised treatment plan

Your child can sit on your lap during the examination if it helps them feel at ease.
