Consultant Allergist
About Chris Rutkowski
Dr Chris (Krzysztof) Rutkowski, MD, PhD is a consultant allergist specialising in the diagnosis and management of complex allergic conditions across both adult and paediatric patients.
His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of allergy, including anaphylaxis, food allergy, urticaria (hives) and angioedema (swelling), drug, vaccine and latex allergy, venom (bee, wasp and hornet) allergy, allergic asthma, hay fever, and both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, sinusitis and conjunctivitis. He offers advanced therapies including allergen immunotherapy (desensitisation) and biologic treatment with omalizumab (Xolair), where appropriate.
He is known for a precise, evidence-based approach, placing particular emphasis on careful diagnosis, clear explanation, and individually tailored treatment plans.
Dr Rutkowski completed his specialist allergy training in Cambridge and spent many years at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London—an internationally recognised Centre of Excellence accredited by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and the World Allergy Organisation. During this time, he served as Clinical Lead and developed extensive experience in managing complex and treatment-resistant allergic disease.
He led the UK’s largest anti-IgE (omalizumab) service for chronic spontaneous urticaria and was closely involved in the UK’s first joint allergy/dermatology Difficult Urticaria Clinic at St John’s Institute of Dermatology. He has contributed to international guidelines on urticaria and angioedema and to the EAACI Task Force on paediatric urticaria.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Rutkowski is a published author in drug allergy and is actively involved in postgraduate education, teaching MSc students, allergists, dermatologists, GPs and physicians at both national and international level.
Please note: Dr Rutkowski does not manage mast cell activation syndrome, gastrointestinal food intolerances (including bloating or chronic diarrhoea), contact dermatitis (e.g. to chemicals, metals, fragrances or hair dyes), histamine intolerance, or alcohol intolerance.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, but only for certain services. Some consultations, assessments, and treatments can be booked directly, while others require a GP or specialist referral. Please check the relevant service page for guidance, and contact the centre if you’re unsure.
We aim to offer appointments as quickly as possible, and many services have same-day or next-day availability. Waiting times vary depending on the appointment type, specialty, and consultant availability, but our team will always offer the earliest suitable appointment.
Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.
Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
